Austrian giant goal machine targetted

Updated Monday, 29th December 2008

Mark Janko of Red Bull Salzburg is being linked with a move to the Latics and is being touted as a potential replacement for Emile Heskey.

The 25 year old Austrian international forward stands at six foot five inches in height and has now scored 45 goals in 58 appearances for Red Bull.

Latics boss Steve Bruce told the Wigan Evening Post: "I will probably be doing some business next month, but we don't want to lose anyone.

"We are building a fabulous squad at Wigan and I don't want to dismantle it. But I am mindful that the big clubs are out there, looking at our players and maybe weighing up offers for some of them.

"It just shows you how far this club has come that the giants of world football are looking at our players. But I want to keep hold of them and add to the squad if I can."
