Wigan have beaten off competition from Charlton and Fulham to land Crystal Palace right-back Emmerson Boyce on a four year deal, after a successful medical.

The 26-year-old joins his former Palace team-mate Fitz Hall at the JJB Stadium, who signed earlier this month for £3million.

After a £1million offer was rejected earlier in the month, Jewell decided to tempt Palace boss Peter Taylor into a sale, with a bid reportedly around the £1.75million being accepted.

The signing of Boyce will increase speculation surrounding Pascal Chimbondas future. The Frenchman has again expressed his desire to sign for a bigger club, with Tottenham having a player plus cash offer rejected by the Club.
