Bruce down to two strikers

By Michael Goodman
Updated Monday, 30th March 2009

Steve Bruce is now down to two fit strikers for the next three weeks as Amr Zaki has picked up a hamstring injury leaving Hugo Rodallega and Mido as the only available front men.

This was always a worry ever since Bruce allowed Henri Camara to join Stoke on loan where he is struggling to get into the first team at the Britannia after picking up a few injuries. Now though, Mido and Hugo will have to keep fit for the next three weeks to give the squad a chance of finishing in a European qualification spot. Zaki picked up his injury whilst playing in Egypt's 1-1 draw with Zambia and was forced to play the full 90 minutes as the Egyptians had used all three substitutions.

One positive was that Zaki bagged a goal in open play which would have boosted his confidence but with the injury, the striker will have to wait patiently to regain fitness and push for a starting place after Hugo impressed against Hull. With more internationals this week, Bruce will be hoping no-one else picks up an injury ahead of the game against Everton on Sunday.
