Man of the moment Emile Heskey has admitted that a return to playing Champions League football is on his mind; but that he will give his all for Wigan. His contract ends next summer.

The powerful forward has won his critics and the nation over with his tireless and effective performances for England in which the national side have not lost with Heskey in the starting eleven.

He said: "Everyone wants to be playing on these stages and for their club in the Champions League.

"It's a nice situation that I'm in (when asked about attention from other managers), but I'm still a Wigan player and I want to do my best for them."

Despite only scoring five goals in 50 England appearances the England fans chanted Heskey's name even though it was Rooney who put England in the lead.

That was great," said Heskey.

"The fans got behind me perfectly. It was a difficult place to come - not many people have done well here - and it was great to win."
