Ellington left just 18 months ago for £3 million pounds and the Baggies want to recoup the whole of that fee. While the Latics bid is said to stand at £2 million with plenty of add-ons should the move be successful.
Paul Jewell said: "We've made bids for lots of players. I don't really want to comment on something that should be private. We are after a striker, we are after a midfield player and a couple of defenders. We are in the market for a number of players."
