Chris Hutchings has wrapped up the permanent signing of on loan defender Andreas Granqvist. The Swede, who only made one appearance whilst on loan, impressed enough in training and reserves to earn a contract.
The 22-year old helsinborg defender has signed for an undisclosed fee on a two-year deal.Granqvist is Hutchings fourth signing and third defensive capture since the experienced trio of Jackson, De Zeeuw and Unsworth left since the end of the season.
Hutchings believes the Swedish International will bring something different to his revamped Wigan defence.
He said: "There was a lot of interest in Andreas, which is why I wanted to get this done quickly.
"Andreas has got bags of potential and I think he has the ability to make a real impact in the Premiership.
"He's good technically, he's strong and powerful and has pace, now it's up to us to make sure we harness that potential and turn him into a Premier League regular."
