Latics chairman Dave Whelan has today commented that striker Emile Heskey is reluctant to renew his contract with the club and may be sold in January.
The 72 year old chairman does not want to run the risk of losing Heskey, who cost the club £5.5 million three summers ago, on a free transfer at the end of the season.Instead he would rather pick up a fee for the 30 year old in January.
Whelan said: "Emile is out of contract in the summer, but he doesn't want to sign a new one at the moment.
"It could cost us two, three or four million if that goes on to next summer, so we'll have to see what January brings."
