The popular Liverpudlian is desperate to bring in more big names, and beleives another season of consolidation will raise the profile of the club.
"We had problems last year trying to sign players, and it's been quite a difficult summer this time around as well."
"but then the quality of player we have been looking for has risen, and with that so has the quality of clubs we are competing against for a player's signature."
The former Liverpool trainee knows it will take longer than one season of top flight football to forge a reputation for the Latics.
"it's clear the Wigan name is still not attractice enough. I understand when it comes to the transfer market we're up against a lot of teams with history."
"Wigan is a progressive club. For us, last season was the start of an exciting journey, and we want to continue it."
"We want to be here for the long haul, and hopefully that's the message being sent out to the players we are after."
