Paul Jewell is to rest influential captain Arjan De Zeeuw in a bid to cure his long standing toe injury. The skipper has been plagued with the injury for the past few months.

Captain 'Arry missed Saturday's 2-1 defeat against Portsmouth due to injury, and Jewell is desperate to see his Dutch defender back to full fitness.

Jewell is prepared to give him a lenghty rest, and said: "We have to get this problem for Arry sorted out. He is not doing himself justice and has not been able to train in the week.

"He has just been playing games and this is bound to catch up with you. You can get away with it for so long, but it's taken its toll and he needs a rest."

With a relegation fight looking likely, Jewell will be hoping to see his captain 100% fit and ready to lead the Latics to Premiership safety.
