Wigan Athletic defeated Sunderland 3-0 in the Third round of the FA Cup. Goals from Paul Scharner, Paul McShane (OG) and David Cotterill have sent the Latics into the fourth round.

Unbelievably it was the Latics' first away win of the season and hopefully the first of many.

Paul Scharner opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a header before comedy defender Paul McShane put through his own goal 11 minutes before half time.

David Cotterill sealed the victory after arriving as a subistitute. His goal was the best of the day and came 15 minutes from full time.
