Struggling to get into the St Etienne side, Sakho instucted his agent to look for a new club and the Latics were high up that list. However sam Allardyce has snatched the 28 year old from under Jewell's nose.
His agent Willie McKay told
Sky Sports: "Lamine is to spend a few days training at Bolton. Sam Allardyce is losing a number of players during the African Cup of Nations and he is looking to bring in new players.
"Lamine enjoyed his time in England with Leeds before he got injured and he would be keen on a return. He has struggled to establish himself at St Etienne and he wants to be playing regularly.
