Lee McCulloch has spoken to the official website after his wonder goal in the 2-1 defeat to West Ham on Saturday. It was the Scottish internationals second goal in as many games.

The 27 year old scored last week at Eastlands against Manchester City. His goal that week was a thumping header, this week it was a thunderous drive from 25 yards.

Despite the goal, McCulloch was unhappy to lose the game, especially with the two goals "given away".

McCulloch said: "It was a scrappy start for both teams and it was good to get in at half time 1-0 up, but we are bitterly disappointed at having given away two sloppy goals.

"I can't remember too much about the goal. Jimmy Bullard just slipped the ball through to me and I fancied a shot and I just hit it perfectly, and luckily it went in the net.

"The gaffer has told us that anytime you think about having a shot, make sure you hit the target, and I did that!"

Next up for the Latics is a trip to Ewood Park for a difficult game with Blackburn Rovers. The match will be played in front on Sky's cameras on Monday evening in a game that could go a long way to deciding our European fate.
