After Joe Kinnear referred to Charles N'Zogbia as insomnia in a post match television interview, the former French under 21 international has refused to play for United again.

This has sparked renewed rumours that N'Zogbia is a target of Steve Bruce who is looking to strengthen the left hand side of his midfield.

Speaking to Alan Parry of Sky Sports after his sides 2-1 defeat to Newcastle, Kinnear said: "Shay [Given] pulled out with a knee injury as did Insomnia... Insomnia.. er, Charlie."

To which the French winger later responded: "First of all, I wish to apologise to the fans for wanting to leave the club. However, hacing been insulted by Joe Kinnear, I will never play for him again while he remains Newcastle manager."

A swap deal involving Ryan Taylor is said to be on the table, whilst Jason Koumas may also be offered to sweeten the deal.
