Wigan Athletic's Reserve side ran out 2-0 winners last night against perhaps the biggest club in the World (maybe even the Universe) as Maynor Figueroa netted his first goal for the club.

A 20th minute strike from Julius Aghahowa put the Latics in the lead, before Figueroa's 60th minute finish sealed the game.

Reserve team manager Keith Bertschin was pleased with the victory. He told the club's official website: "It's difficult to single anybody out really. Aggy was very lively, Erik Hagen looked solid alongside Andreas Granqvist, but really they all put a great shift in, which is very encouraging."

Wigan Athletic Reserves: Saunders, Moore, Figueroa, Hagen, Granqvist, Cwyka, Montrose, Skoko, Olembe, Bouaouzan (Kupisz 75), Aghahowa.
