As soon as Steve Bruce's move to Sunderland is confirmed the search begins for the next man to take charge of Wigan Athletic.
And the Latics chairman revealed that he would certainly have an interest in Martinez and Ferguson, manager's at Swansea City and Peterborough respectively.Whelan said: "I am sure there will be 10, 15, 20 applications and if those lads (Martinez and Ferguson) are among the applicants then obviously I have to give them consideration.
"They are good lads... but I have not given that one thought (about replacements).Firstly it was a bit of shock when it came that I might be losing Steve.
"But there's no use me speaking to anyone or doing anything until we are going to get a definite yes or no."
